What comes to mind immediately when you think of Russia? Vodka, bears, Putin... Moscow, Saint Petersburg and probably a lot of nothing everywhere else. Since the beginning of the semester, however, we've been trying to prove that Russia is so much more than just a set of these stereotypes. And now we think you're ready to see the pearl of our country - Kazan!

Russian media refers to it primarily as to the 'third capital' of Russia as well as its 'sports capital'. Its official state is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. This is a place where different cultures and peoples have always been closely intertwined, but have always managed to benefit from cultural diversity rather than be afraid of it.

It's extremely hard to describe what the city's like - you just need to see and feel it yourself. Lots of sightseeing and partying, traditional Tatar and Russian cuisine, mosques and churches, museums and even open-air exhibits... No matter what your interests are, Kazan has something to mesmerize everyone!

Here's the programme of our trip, if you're still not sure whether to go!
